A REAL COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

Duchessa Lia has achieved ISO 14001 since 2004, the first Piedmont winery to obtain this certification and among the first companies in Italy.

ISO 14001 is an international and voluntary standard certifies the adoption of an integrated environmental management system involving the entire company production policy and directing it towards greater attention to the reduction of waste. It also influences company policies, helping management to develop good practices aimed at training staff, safeguarding health and protecting the natural heritage in which the company is part.

Among the concrete actions for sustainability and waste reduction, Diatomaceous earth, often used to filter wine, has been completely abolished. The latest generation of cross-flow filters have taken their place, increasing efficiency and quality of the process and reducing the production of waste.
The use of energy for lighting and refrigeration of wines is carefully monitored: the old industrial lamps have been replaced by latest generation LEDs while the gases of the cold rooms are of natural origin, thus eliminating the use of CFCs responsible for the greenhouse effect.

ENERGY FROM RENEWABLE SOURCES

Duchessa Lia's environmental responsibility also passes through choices made regarding energy supply. The entire company needs today is green, 100% certified by renewable energy with a guarantee of origin.

LESS PLASTIC IN THE WORKPLACE

Among the good company practices, Duchess Lia favored the replacement of PET water bottles with drinking water treatment and supply systems. Less plastic waste, less pollution for the transport of bottles and more ecological and healthy habits for all staff.
